I wanna know more about Bell’s Palsy?
vickie
Is it good to mix meds like, Acyclovir, Topamax, Lisinopril? My husband was just diognosed (how ever you spell it) with Bell’s Palsy this weekend. I was wanting to know if these meds will hurt him by taking them all together? Or does anyone know anything about this condition at all? I am teriffied about this and don’t know what to do. Besides just be there for him and take care of him.
Thanks to all that has answered. I appreicate the prayers also. I think this has answered my questions and concerens. Thanks to all.

As far as the medications go, ask his Dr or call your pharmacist.
I had it for 6 months. Bell’s Palsy is usually a temporary thing lasting anywhere from 2 weeks to a year.
As for the meds, make sure the doctors know he has this and let them say.
It is more of a disfigurement thatis temporary than it is anything else. It will be an adjustment, but one that is only temporary.
Now, having said that, there may be some left over tingling and stuff afterwards, but the paraylisis will go away.
I will pray for you and your husband. Be strong and just wait it out.
If you have other rquestions, email me.
Bell’s Palsy is an inflammation of the trigeminal nerve, it is most commonly treated in the early stages with steroids to take down the inflammation. If it is not caught early, there really is no treatment other than time and waiting for the inflammation to leave and function to return. In 80% of cases, full function does return after six months or so.
I read the other responses to your question before giving my input, and the combination you have received are all great! I have very little to add but some additional reassurance. I am a special education teacher and have identified Bell’s palsy in several normal children throughout my career (not my special ed kids!) It is quite natural for you to feel frightened, but as the others have said, this is, in general, a temporary condition. Vitamin B12 has been getting some good press in terms of speeding recovery along, and there are other natural sources that may assist. If you are interested in taking a look at arguments for natural products, you may want to look at sites such as this one:

Don’t panic, get plenty of old-fashioned rest and water.
