I have Bells Palsy and my eyelid won’t close, I can’t smile on the same side and I have no taste on that side of my mouth. I am also almost 40 weeks pregnant so I do not want to get a steroid shot. How long does this take to clear up without the shot? I know the shot doesn’t heal it and there is really no treatment but is there any way I can make it go away sooner????? The doc said it will go away on its own.. Any additional info about it will be very helpful.

I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy at the ER on vacation 5 days ago. They gave me steroids and it seems to be improving a bit. I have a crooked smile, my left eye won’t close very easily, and my nostril won’t flare as far out. No taste in my mouth on that side. No droopiness to my face. Just the affected side feels tight. I did have a cold sore the week before and a bad sinus infection. I’m just worried it could be a stroke because they said with Bell’s Palsy you shouldn’t be able to wrinkle your forehead and I CAN a little bit…….

I was just diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy 3 days ago. I am experiencing slight twitching trembling sensations in my lips nose and cheek. I havent had my week check up as advised by the ER doctor. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if maybe its a good sign that my nerve is sending signals to my face.
I am on acyclovir and prednisone. I plan on starting acupunture next week, just have to figure out what my insurance will cover. I have been doing warm moist compresses with chamomile tea.
